Catfish and the Bottlemen at the Great Hall: The Soundcheck Review

Catfish and the Bottlemen stormed the Great Hall in Exeter last night. Playing the first date on their sell-out UK tour, the boys from North Wales certainly had an eager crowd waiting for them.

Taking to the stage and exploding straight into Rango, the set was flawless from beginning to end. With barely a pause to catch their breath, we were treated to live favourites Pacifier, Sidewinder and Fallout in quick succession.

Following the opening salvo of hits, the band seemed unrelentless in their quest to get the entire audience into one gigantic mosh-pit. Business followed by Kathleen secured this, with the energy in the room being palpable.

Another treat was to follow, with the band playing new song ‘7’ live for the first time. A strong, broody track, 7 looks set to usher in the bands second LP in a style that the fans will surely adore.

Closing the evening Catfish played first album favourite Tyrants to a mass sing-a-long from the thousand plus people at the Great Hall. For a first night of their new tour, the boys from Wales couldn’t have put on a more impressive performance.
